10:30 am - 2:30 pm

We’ve arranged a visit to Kaipupu Point Wildlife Sanctuary on Tuesday October 27th with Beachcomber Cruises, departing 10.30 am and returning 2.00 p.m.   We can walk around the track (or just a part of it), have a picnic lunch and enjoy the sanctuary at our leisure.   The entrance via a jetty in Dolphin Bay (below) where there is a lovely picnic spot.   This is a short 15 minute boat trip from Picton.   Special price is $10 per person, children under 5 are free.
The Sanctuary has been created over the last ten years to protect and enhance our special New Zealand wildlife.   Hundreds of volunteers have pulled together since 2005 to restore this headland of coastal bush and establish access.   In 2008 a specially constructed fence was built to keep out all introduced animal pests.   This fence creates the 40 hectares ‘mainland island’ of Kaipupu Point Sounds Wildlife Sanctuary.   A 2.8 km. track was constructed encircling the sanctuary.   A jetty, pontoon and landing area (the only access to the sanctuary) have been built in Shakespeare Bay.
This is a great opportunity – individuals normally pay $40 for this trip.   Please contact Cathy on [email protected] if you would like to come with us.

Location
Meet at Beachcomber Cruise Wharf, opposite Le Cafe
