Social Committee - Wellington Newcomers Network

Hi and welcome to Wellington! We hope you soon feel at home here, like we do.

Wellington Newcomers Network (WNN) started in November 2013 and we’ve been busy since then!

We organise regular get-togethers and have an active forum page ( to meet new people and make new friends. We explore Wellington together, we share experiences, good addresses, tips and good deals.

The group is made up of migrants from far and wide and kiwis from down the road! Some newcomers have been here a week and others years and years and years! Many speak multi-languages, so don’t worry if you’re not confident in English yet – you soon will be 😉

Our regular events are

•   Coffee catch-up, 5pm the 2nd Wednesday of the month at Clark’s café (in the Central Library)

•   Mix n Mingle, 5.30pm the last Tuesday of the month (check the event here or on Facebook for the location)

And semi-regular

•   Coffee and conversation, 2.30pm often the last Thursday of the month at Clark’s café (in the Central Library) but check Facebook, our posters or our events before making the journey!

We also organise other get-togethers such as tramps (walks) around the local hills, bays and the Botanic Garden, potluck picnics; we go to things together such as cricket matches, Parliament (for a tour), museums, art galleries, cinema (indoor and out), Shakespeare in the Park; we go out for meals together to try out the great Wellington cuisine; we’re sporty together (hot yoga, football at the Phoenix open day), and much more. Check current events here or on Facebook to see what’s happening!

We hope to see you soon or pop onto the Facebook forum and say hello!
